Walter Russell Dildy

August 20, 1952 — August 2, 2021

I am in Heaven dear ones, oh so happy and bright. There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief are over, ever restless tossing past. I am now at peace. Forever, safely home in Heaven at last.

“Well done good and faithful servant; thou have been faithful over a few things. I will make thee ruler over many things, enter thou into the joy of the Lord.” Matther 25:23

Our family circle that was woven with strong bonds has been broken, when our Brother, Father, Grandfather, Nephew, Cousin, Uncle, and Friend was called home to be with the Lord on August 2nd, 2021.

Walter R. Dildy was born August 20, 1952, and was a native of Princess Anne County, Virginia. At an early age he gave his life to the Lord. He is preceded in death by his wife Arletha Dildy, his Father Russell T. Dildy, and Mother Mary L. Dildy. He attended Union Kempsville and Kempsville High School.

Walter (a.k.a Junnie, Moonie), loved to joke and make people laugh. Family and friends alike remember his gentle manner and his great sense of humor. He was always there for family and friends in need. Walter was not a stranger to anyone. He loved music and was in a band with his brother Ricky called “The 9th Decade”, in which our Father was the manager. He was also in the boy scouts. Water loved to cook. He worked at a restaurant on the Oceanfront. He also could tell you all about history of everyday life, back the lane, and Chinese Corner. He retied from Old Dominion University as a chef.

We loved him and appreciated him. We are thankful for him being there for us to share in our joys and in our sorrows. He showed his love and devotion to us and gave us the example to live a good life and to treat all people the same. He considered it a joy to spend time with his family in which he is cherished.

We are grateful that God loaned Walter to us for these many years. Fond memories of him will be cherished by his two daughters: Angela Holland (husband Trenton Holland) and Shera Joyner. His six sisters: Audrey Hughes, Dorothy Gilchrist, Inez Jackson, Annette Harris (Richard Harris), Jacqueline Dildy, and Joyce Wilson. His four brothers: Ricky Dildy (Octavia Dildy), Lorenzo Dildy, Lester Dildy and Bryant Dildy. A beloved nephew, Jerome Dildy (Janice Dildy). Beloved cousins: Vicky White, Elvis White (Christina). Uncle William Copeland (Violet). One beloved Aunt Mildred White, four Aunts: Madeline (David), Beulah Copeland, Linda Tabron (Alonzo) and Renee Copeland, two sisters-in-law: Janice Mitchell, Annette Wright. Four brothers-in-law: Shelton Wright (Beverly), Tony Tomas, Lorenzo, and Lloyd (Stephanie). Two grandchildren: Tyyana Holland and Tyree Holland. A special friend, Gwennell Gould, beloved cousin Mommy Ju, family friend Sarah Parker. Nieces: Latrina, Beverly Rivera (Sam), Stephanie Awoudor (Qilus), Portia Dildy, Yolanda Franklin (Tyree), Brittany Gordon, Jessica Dildy, Yvonne Dildy, Hillary Dildy, and Rachel Dildy. Nephews: Jerome Dildy (Janice), Percy Wilson, Derrick Wilson, Thirland Jackson (Janell), Austin Dildy, Romel Harris, Ryan Harris (Katherine), Leuncol Jackson (Linda), Bryant Gordon, Javon Gordon, and Ricky Dildy. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
