Gwendolyn Elizabeth Reid

June 17, 1955 — September 25, 2022

Gwendolyn ‘Gwen’ Elizabeth Reid, beloved daughter of her mother Annie Elizabeth Reid and her late father Herbert Reid, departed this life on Sunday, September 25, 2022, in Virginia Beach, VA.

Gwen was born in Goldsboro, NC on June 17, 1955, to her birth parents, the late Charles ‘Ray’ Middleton and the late Edna Beary-Middleton.

Gwendolyn was raised in Washington, DC where she graduated from Martha Washington Vocational School. Being multi-talented sent Gwen in various occupational endeavors, to include studying to be an airline stewardess. Staying in the field of transportation, she settled on becoming a Professional Bus Driver for Metro, and later CDL Certified Long Distance Nationwide Driver. Gwen loved driving and caring for her passengers, and they truly loved her as well. After returning her passengers safely home, she was always showered with gifts of appreciation.

Gwen accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a very young age. She was a member of Faith Bible Church, under the leadership of the late, Bishop Lewis T. Tait. Young Gwen could be found in a variety of Church festivities and positions, from contests to the church choir. Her favorite was being the Choir Director.

God Blessed Gwen with two sets of parents: her birth parents, the late Charles ‘Ray’ Middleton and the late Edna Beary-Middleton. Gwen’s Spiritual parents Mrs. Annie E. Reid and the late Herbert Reid who welcome her as an infant into their loving home and raised her as their own. Gwen was predeceased by her eldest son Anthony ‘Tony’ Reid, Aunt Shirley, Uncles Jerry and Bobby.

Gwen is survived by her mother, Annie Elizabeth Reid, her son Richard ‘RT’ Thomas Myers, Jr., her grandchildren Tishauna, Damion, Richard III, and Shaquan, her sisters Gloria and Angela, her brothers Todd, Monroe and Kevin, her Aunts Dorothy “Dot’, Grace, Genell and Fay, and her Uncles, Clifton, William Earl, Connie, Wayne, and Richard; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends whom she truly loved and loved her.
