George Stallwerch Fisher, born on December 10, 1937, to the late Samuel & Cora Fisher in Ivor, Virginia and passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, in Upper Marlboro. He leaves behind a legacy woven through the lives he enriched, with the memory of his laughter and warmth echoing in the hearts of his loved ones.
George, dedicated much of his life to serving others, his career spanning several roles that reflected his unwavering commitment to hard work and service. He was married to the late Evelyn Fisher and to that union produced 5 children Sharrii, Corlette, Adrian & the twin boys; Kevin & Kelvin. A proud member of the United States Marine Corps, George carried with him the values of honor and duty throughout his life. He continued to serve his community as a merchant marine from 1970 to 1985 before dedicating his expertise to the Queens New York School System from 1985 to 1996. His professional journey mirrored the dedication he infused into every aspect of his life.
George later married Daphine and to this union produced a son and three bonus children the late Wendy, Jennifer & Ian. An enthusiast of music, George would fill his home with melodic notes during weekends, passionately expressing his love for melodies that uplifted spirits and brought people together. Western films captivated his attention, and he would often share his favorite moments with family, relishing in the nostalgia they provoked. His signature greeting, "Hello Darling," became synonymous with his warm spirit and affectionate nature, welcoming friends and family alike into his embrace.
George took pride in his appearance, often seen dressed in polished suits with gleaming shoes, a testament to his meticulous nature. He found joy in cooking, preferring to wash his dishes by hand with hot water, eschewing modern conveniences—a reflection of the values he cherished. This attention to detail and care resonated with everyone who had the pleasure of experiencing his hospitality.
He leaves a close-knit family that includes two daughters, Sharrii Fisher of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Corlette Turner (Dwight) of Portsmouth, Virginia. His legacy continues with two sons, Rev. Kevin B. Fisher and Kelvin B. Fisher, both residing in Norfolk. George is also survived by his beloved sister, Addie Mae Whitaker, of Norfolk, and a remarkable lineage of 27 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever carry forward his spirit and love.
George is reunited in eternal peace with those who have preceded him. He was tenderly cherished by his late wife, Daphine Fisher, as well as his daughter Adrian C. Fisher and son Bezelel "Ricky" Fisher. His siblings, Dorothy Batts, James Fisher, Joel Fisher, Junius Fisher, and Joseph Fisher, also await him on the other side. Together, they gather as a family once more, all sharing in the warmth and love they crafted in their lives.
The world has lost a remarkable man; however, the love and memories of George Stallwerch Fisher will forever resonate within the hearts of those he touched. As we celebrate his life, we honor his spirit—one of unwavering dedication, love, and joyous laughter.
