Fred McKinley Alston

Fred McKinley Alston, 79,  Suffolk, Va transitioned on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was the son of the late Mary Thomas and Perry Alston. 

He was born and raised in Louisburg, North Carolina and retired from Rockland Psychiatric Center in New York after 30 years of service.

Fred enjoyed the outdoors, he loved walking outside enjoying the fresh air. In his earlier years he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and fishing. He even owned his own restaurant.  After retirement he enjoyed going to church, having his coffee everyday and playing checkers and cards. He was an amazing father and grandfather and he loved hisfamily. He kept a smile on his face everyday and never complained about anything. His favorite saying was,”It’s a blessing to be alright.” 

 He leaves to cherish his memory his life partner, Alma Norfleet. His daughters, Yvette Pelham, Mryvette Miller,

Denise Norfleet, and Tonya Norfleet Moore.  His sons, Gregory Norfleet, Jerald Norfleet ,and Willie Alston. And a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memories last a lifetime only if you share them.
