Charles Peter Crawford

August 31, 1956 — January 31, 2024

Virginia Beach

Charles Peter Crawford, a beloved soul whose presence illuminated the lives of all who knew him, has sadly left this world on January 31, 2024. With heavy hearts, we grieve the loss of a remarkable individual. Born on August 31, 1956, in the town of Hampton, Virginia, where he attended catholic school. He was enlisted the United States Marine Corps from 1976-1984 meanwhile graduating from Norfolk State University with a bachelor's in mathematics. Charles's time on earth was marked by an unwavering spirit and a deep devotion to God and those closest to him.

From a young age, it was evident that Charles possessed an incredible zest for life. His boisterous laughter would fill the room and bring joy to everyone who had the pleasure of hearing it. Charles had a captivating presence that drew people towards him like moths to a flame. Whether it was his mischievous sense of humor or his warm and compassionate nature, he had a unique ability to make anyone feel valued and important.

Despite the challenges that life threw his way, Charles faced adversity with unwavering determination and an indomitable spirit. His resilience provided strength not only to himself but to those around him as well. He worked for UPS for 43 years and made many friends in that time.  His work ethic and drive were an inspiration to those who had the pleasure of being around him.

A luminary in his community, Charles selflessly dedicated his time and efforts to his faith and his family. For over 40 years he has been a beloved member of the Basilica of St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception, where he was a Lector, a part of the Eucharistic Ministry, and Religious Education. Here he was deeply committed to teaching his students about first penance and first eucharist in his sacramental preparation class. Through his Spirited endeavors, he sought to inspire others to follow in his footsteps and give all glory to God.

Charles was very active throughout his life. His hobbies ranged from chess, walking on the beach, basketball and running just to name a few.  From mountain day trips to beach adventures. Nature resonated deeply within him; he made sure to connect with nature whenever possible always with a prayer before traveling.

A man of faith and devotion, Charles loved losing himself in the study of the word. He lived for and by faith, and he never hesitated to share his favorite passages or recommend a few himself. Charles embodied the quintessential man of God, who could engage in a profound discussion on Faith and philosophy one moment and burst into laughter over lighthearted banter the next.

In Virginia Beach, where Charles took his final breath, he leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the memories of those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be dearly missed by his loving family; his wife Kimberly, his children, Sean, Deanna, Peter, Logan, Joseph, Carlos, Gabriel, Mariah and eleven Grandchildren. His siblings, Kim, Kevin, Cheryl, Frenchy, and Angelo, who shared countless adventures with him, his cherished friends who were touched by his loyalty and compassion, and all those whose lives he touched through simply interacting with them.

As we bid farewell to Charles Peter Crawford in this earthly realm, let us remember him not with tears of sorrow but with smiles that reflect the joy he brought to our lives. May we honor his memory by carrying forth his unwavering spirit of resilience, compassion, and kindness towards all humanity.
